I'm looking to get into reloading,. and just as luck has it, I will be going to the US in the next few weeks..

I'm curious if there is a list (in the forums) of what is allowed to be brought back without having to get an import/export license..

Eg..

Press
Dies
Casings

Bullets ??

Powder (Assume No..)
Primers (Assume No..)

Thanks..

I dont know what is meant by the ingredients, I went to the U.S a couple days ago and bought the tools some primers some bullets and I forgot to bye powder, got back to the border and showed the guy the reciept and said I could get through with more than I had bought.

There is a search button up top to the right that will bring up a couple hundred threads about "importing".....

Actually I bring casing from a large compagny every month...the restriction is the value of the shipment no more then 100.00 us, works well for casing....bullet shipping would be too high and just forget dangerous good.....

FYI. It has been metioned on this site a million times - It is illegal under US federal law to export reloading components without an export permit. This requires a Canadian import permit. Anyone buying brass, bullets, powder or primers from the US without these docs is either breaking US law or buying from someone who is. Also, the $100 rule is no longer in effect.

Oh? So what is it now?

If the exemption based on value is no longer in effect........ that means.....

It is illegal under US federal law to export reloading components without an export permit and this requires a Canadian import permit as well......

PERIOD...

You can bring up to 5000 rounds of ammunition into Canada, I don't think there's a limit on components, but you face jail, confiscation, refusal to be entered into the USA for as long as they see fit. Canadian customs have no problems with any of it, it's the USA side that have crazy permit restrictions...

I forgot to post earlier, as a Canadian who is not residing in the USA, you are not allowed to possess in the USA, ammunition, firearms, bullets, primers, brass, and probably more...... (without the proper permits)

I don't care if your friend will get you it, or the fact that if a dealer does not know your are a non-resident and may sell it to you, you will be breaking the law.....
