Reloading where to start

The ABC's of Reloading. Your local gun shop or Amazon. Then look into an RCBS Beginner's Kit. Gives you everything you need less dies and shellholder. Comes with a Speer manual, but buy a Lyman book too. It's more versatile.
Don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have here too.

The Lyman 49th is a great book, it deals with pistol, rifle and many other aspects of reloading. Great read, runs about 30-40 bucks I think

"...runs about 30-40..." Last price I saw for the 48th Edition was $50. Mind you, the shop I saw it in isn't the least expensive place for anything.

I bought mine for $40, but saw it at a gun show some time after for $34. I'm not sure how much amazon wants for it.

Your local shop might have higher costs or just higher margins. I know some shops that you really have to be careful at :yingyang:

"...local shop might have..." Mostly because it's one of two in London. Haven't ever actually seen any guys with peg legs, an eye patch and parrots on their shoulders.

I stopped going to the shops in London a long....long time ago. LOL

I'd not even bother with buying the most basic books, there is tons of info on the Net, just Google it. It'd def be great if you can visit a friend or so who's been doing it for a while to show you the ropes. There are videos on youtube too. Then get a few books according to your needs/level of knowledge from there...
Amazon should have some books at decent prices.

i baught the ABC's of reloading the 8th edition from amazon.
it's cheap (less than 20$ and qualifies for super saver free shipping)
so far it has been answering all my questions!

Beginner?

The guy states that he wants to start reloading, what level of knowledge do you think he will have? FS

I'm seriously considering reloading, was thinking of books for more research. Any suggestions were to start ?

I was wondering the same thing not too long ago. Do it to right way and buy a reloading book from a reputable company like Speer, Lyman, etc. In that book you will find in depth instructions and detailed explanations that will keep you busy learning for a while.

Just remember that it may be wise to read from more than one source as they all tend give information biased to their own products.

The ABC's of Reloading is an excellent resource.

Then two reference manuals is probably ideal. Lee modern reloading is inexpensive and gives a very extensive line up of cartridges. I'm also a little partial to the Hornady manual since I push a lot of Hornady bullets through the pipe.
