What's wrong with reloading leverevolution brass? I understand the brass was made shorter to accommodate for the longer FTX projectiles. What's stopping me from not seating the bullet as deep to meet COL spec?
Do you also crimp your 45-70 reloads? That's apparently another problem with the shorter cases. I honestly don't intend on crimping them so I can get the most life out of each case.
The short leverevolution 45 70 cases are fine for loading heavy cast lead bullets 430 to 525 grains and up which might produce an excessive coal in standard cases.
I also reload the ftx bullets.

If you're shooting it from a single shot rifle I'd say you're fine. You just need "enough" neck tension to get a good start to the burn and crimp away the flare and no more than that.
I don't know how much shorter these cases are but as long as you can seat deep enough that the last lube groove is covered and protected I don't see any issue provided it's going through a single shot rifle.
A lever action would be another story. In that case you want a proper crimp in the proper cannelure groove to keep the bullets of the rounds in the magazine from moving from the recoil. But I'm assuming a single shot since you say you're not worried about any heavy crimping.
Absolutely.
My hunting loads are heavy and the gun is tube fed so the cartridges will take a pounding.
If the bullet moves further into the case under recoil high pressures will result.
I use LeverRevolution brass for my Ruger #1.
This particular rifle has a short throat, and Sierra 300 grain bullets seated to the cannelure chamber and function perfectly. If I use longer brass, I have to seat the bullet past the cannelure.
