Namely there seems to be a nationwide shortage of powder or am I just not looking in the right places? I tried Brownells and literally ALL their pistol powder is out of stock...Cabellas....similar story, and what isnt backordered would kill me in shipping ($172.00 just to ship 2 cans of win231) Higginsonpowders.com...empty. Is there something im missing (other than powder) lol?
Where does everyone else get theirs? Specifically pistol powder (.45acp)...winchester 231 or similar.
Thanks!

You have to go to your local stores. Some won't advertise they have powder because they're catering to loyal customers, but win231? Ha! Good luck.

There's a few near me that don't advertise and won't sell you powder unless you buy bullets to make sure you aren't hoarding.

Go to smaller places and ask, you'll probably find what you're looking for.

Any idea how many rounds one can reload with 2 lbs(ballpark)? I know its all dependant on basically everything...but just basic .45 loads with 200/230 gr bullets?

1 lb 7000grs, divide by what you use. 5gr means 1400 reloads from 1lb.

Shortage is from hoarding in the stats because of the Sandy hook shooting and idiots like Obama..

Add your location to your profile.
Sometimes you will find someone local to you who will help a new guy out.
If you were in the Montreal area I could have helped you out with a pound of Titegroup.
I also have an opened 1lb bottle of Win 231 which I haven't touched in years.
Also don't forget that HP-38 is the same as Win231.

The other thing you can do is ask your local shop what if anything he has for pistol powder then find a load in a manual.

Cabelas wanted 172 bucks more to ship (via a 3rd party shipper)stating that UPS and Canada post wouldnt ship due to it being "dangerous goods"...so just a heads up. Unless you're fortunate enough to be able to pick it up.

I have been forced to try Different powders because of the shortage. I am now looking at powders I didn't know existed LOL. I came across 1lb of E-3. Its really coarse stuff and designed for shotguns. its between Red Dot and Bullseye as far as burn rate and pressure. I load 3.5g in my 45acp. It works fine, but its dirty....oh well....I'M SHOOTIN!!!

Since you're in BC checkout Budget Shooter Supply in the banner ads.
Henry is a helluva nice guy.
I believe Canpar is the only company that will ship powder.

If you are a member of a club talk to other shooters there.
They may do a group purchase from one of the big powder distributors in the east to split the shipping costs.

You're going to have to suck it up and try some Vihtavori powder. Costs more but Wholesale always seems to have it as well as several other local places here. I don't think it comes for the States like all the others, so Canada gets its lot of powder no matter what the demand down south. 3N37 will hook you if you try it. Clean, easy measuring GRANULE powder! No bloody flakes! I see Higgensons has 3N38 right now for 35 bucks a pound... That's starting to look cheap....

They also have 4lb 800X. Thatll do cheap for about 4000 rounds at 7.0 grns each.

I had a bunch of powder at the Salmon Arm gun show last October and couldn't get
$35 a pound for it.
The magic number was $30.
Folks were mentioning RL-15 was hard to get.
Ten minutes on the phone and I found it around.
Some prices were high and some were down right outrageous.
There was a five pound jug sitting on my table for a few hours
and no big stampede to fetch it.
