I have heard that 38 dies come with a spacer ring to change the height. I have never seen such a spacer, but I have seen references to it. It would be a handy way to allow the lock ring to remain the same. It would be about 1/10" of an inch thick.

My rcbs dies, both 44 spec/ mag and my 38/357 dies both came with a 1/8spacer. My dillon 650 dies didn't come with locking screws on the jam nuts so I drilled and tapped them all. If you were to get several of these spacer washers, you wouldn't need to adjust anything but the powder charge.

Redding makes (or used to) a ring set for 38/357 and 44 Spec/44 mag. I use them quite often.

For my 357 I found out backing the dies out about 2 full turns from the 38 setting works just dandy. May not work for you but worth a try.

Depending on the bullet shape, you may find the 38 seater plug to be a little short (not many threads engaged). If you do, call Dillon and they should be able to set you up.

Two full turns is about right. 7/8-14 thread will advance 2/14 of an inch with two full turns, or 1/7 of an inch. The difference in length between a 38 Special and 357 Magnum is .125", otherwise known a 1/8 of an inch.....

Have two sets of Lee 38spl/357 dies in Hornady bushings for the LNL AP. That way I don't have to change setting as I always use 148gr HBWC in 38spl and 158gr RN in the 357.
Only have to change powder measure setting. Red nail polish marks the 357 setup dies.
