Hi, with ammo costs going up, l thinking of getting into reloading.
Any suggestions as to what system to get started.
Right now just for rifle, a complete inexpensive system to get me started.

RCBS rock chucker supreme kit with a set of calipers for measuring your brass. Then you will need a trimmer. Then your going to want some way of making it clean......

+1 for the RCBS rock chucker kit. I bought everything separately over time, but if I had to do it all over again, I'd without a doubt go this route. I've bought a total of 4 Lee presses. Once of those little C shaped jokes...broke the handle.....a pro 1000....had all the usual nightmares with it........a 4 hole turret, and split the turret resizing 300 win mag brass. That being said, I just bought another 4 hole turret for doing handgun rounds and nothing else. Everybody needs to have at least one Rockchucker.

I'll warn you. It's addictive. The first time you fire your "roll my owns", you'll be hooked. Then you'll see another toy you like. Then you'll be looking at a turret press.....then a full blown progressive....then you'll want to reload another caliber, so you'll need dies and case trimming stuff for it.........then....THEN....GOD HELP YOU, you discover how cheap it is to shoot if you cast your own bullets !!!!! :D

I should also note. A lot of U.S. retailers are backordered on the Rockchucker press right now. I haven't checked in Canada recently, but I imagine that we're the same. If you find one, grab it.

get the LEE 50th anerversary kit or the "challenger" press kit $149 and comes with press, scale, powder measure, and the basic tools needed then you will just need dies....

i jsut got into it myself and were already loading 9mm .223 .3030 it gets addictive very fast;)....

+1 for the RCBS rockchucker. You won't ever wear it out. After getting everything you need for reloading, it is going to take a while to break even compared to the cost of ammo but you will end up shooting more. Nothing wrong with that. Look at reloading as a hobby, not a way of saving money.

+1 on the rockchucker.

I saw one earlier this week at one of the site sponsors web sites.... I can't remember which one now, (I was looking for a new scale) and I saw a RCBS Rock Chucher starter kit for $349, comes with everything you need to get started. Press, Lub pad, de-burring tool, Case trimmer, scale etc...

You would still have to buy dies for your particular app. Plus powder, brass, bullets and primers......

Good luck reloading!

I would also recommend going with the RCBS Rockchucker kit, but if a few hundred dollars is an issue, you can get Lee equipment for less money.
