The sizing die needs to touch the shellholder - when there is a case! in the shellholder. Use a flashlight to check. If you don't lightly lube the inside of neck, the expander button can stretch the case at the shoulder, causing tight fit. Been there, done that.

You may have a very tight chamber so a small base die may be in order in your case.If the casings are from another rifle that is why you are having a problem, the case head at webbing might be to expanded for a regular FL die to squeeze it down to size.

actually, the sizing die doesn't need to touch the shell holder- if you take the time to READ the directions, you will see that LEE recommends a HARD RAM( 100 % contact) the shell holder PLUS A 1/4 TURN- i've been doing it that way for 41 YEARS and NEVER had a problem- your just touching the shellholder results in a PARTIAL OR NECK SIZE

I had this exact same problem a couple weeks ago with the same dies and press. I had 200 once fired lapua cases from my 700p and want to resize them for my custom rifle with an obermyer chamber. Run them through the full length die and was getting inconsistent results with the shoulders and many wouldn't chamber. I grabbed a redding body die and problem solved. Every case sized beautifully and then ran them in my neck die.

I had the same problem with my 243. Turns out I was not using enough lube and the case bulged ever so slightly right at the taper. You could not tell with the naked eye but it was enough to screw things up. The fact that some of them worked and some of them did not, tells me that this is your problem.
yes i was being stingy on the lube...what is your solution? re size them with more lube?

Yeah, make sure they are lubed properly, keep it off the outside of the neck and taper.
I use found brass all the time and have never had a problem. I know guys with custom/match barels have issue with brass fired from someone elses firearm because the tolerances are so tight.
Make sure you use enough lube and set the die according to your manual, you will be fine.

Try resizing them again, but you may have damaged them beyond repair.
Take one of the ones that would not feed and pull the bullet, try to chamber it, use a little force and see if it bulges at the taper point.
You could always mic it also and see if its uniform.

how far in do they go before resistance is felt?

Try taking one of the cases that would not feed and blacken the whole case by running it over a candle flame. Try to chamber it as far as you can, and then extract it and tell me where the black has been rubbed off.

So the sloppy Norc semi will take the round but the Rem bolt action won't. Is it possible that the semi has bulged the base and the sizing die is too big to push it back without it springing back to what it was before sizing? I thought that I have heard about small and large base die sets.

Good call. I use a sharpie to avoid rubbing off too easily but same idea. That will get straight to were the problem is on the case/chamber.
