Reloads for 300 win mag

I finally got to my happy place with mine.
Stevens 200
Speer 180gr spitzer
68.5 grains of IMR7828SSC
You're way to high in the upper 70's with this powder. I went up to 78 grains in my experiments and once I was past 72, bullets where going all over the place and rising like crazy. At 78 grains, the groups were non-existant and the thing was breaking my shoulder.

Ditto on the 4831 with 180 gr. bullets in my A-bolt Stalker. Lighter bullets don't seem to be up to the task.

My Sako 75 SS 300WM loves RL22 (74.?) a bit below max load with 180gr AB's. 5 Shot group @ 100m is 0.217" At 200m its about 1/2" for 3 shot.

My buddy has the same rifle but his did not shoot nearly as good with RL 22 so we are going to try Retumbo, H-1000 and waiting for the new Winchester 780 powder to try. HIs rifle shoots extremely well with factory Winchester Supreme AB's and the 780 powder is whats used. Cant wait to try it...suppose to be released in April so that may mean fall here in Canada.

240smk

my hunting rifles are built like target rifles i belive that animals should be shot humanely with one shot killing shots. favorite load for my 300win is 66.6 H4831sc always use match primers and 240grn smk they just fall over dead.
1/2" groups 500yds off bench. Works for me .
yea i know smk are not hunting bullets , tellk the deer that.

My Savage 112BVSS 300wm will shoot .4 @ 100yds and hold 1/2 MOA to 500 yds (Ihave not tried further) with 80.5grs H1000, 200grs Accubonds, CCI 250 and chonographed @ 2940fps - SD 8.3

With the right scope and a nice gun and a good rest it could happen.

right. show me one gun that can shoot 1/2" groups at 500 yards and I'll show you a number 3 pencil and a peice of paper that I can replicate those groups. BUT I've heard of guys doing this with savage accutriggers in the rain with wind that was moderatley variable while standing shooting off hand with one eye fluttering in the breeze while their week hand held their beer.

BULL####. there I called it.:slap:

"aninchlow --- shoot 1/2" groups at 500 yards---BULLs**t. there I called it. "

Aninchlow I would call BS to that as well but----you have miss read the post. MT has stated that his rifle prints .4 at 100 and holds 1/2 MOA to 500yds. Which means he is printing a group of 2.5" at 500 yds. Not as you have stated. 1/2" group at 500yds. Dam if he and that rifle could do that I have a job and a set of Tans for him.

Cheers

Don't forget that he had a horse standing on his foot, and he was rebuilding an engine with the toes on his other foot at the same time :D
