Reloder 22

Actually it's a Carl Gustave 96 mauser action.

62k psi is really pushing the limits of that action IMHO.

It was intended for cartridges generating 45k psi as a steady diet.

Tight chamber dimensions can allow for higher pressures, but a 35% increase would be beyond my safety standards.

If you could lay your hands on some Norma MRP, it is my "go-to" powder
for my 6.5x55 and 140 grain Partitions. Burn rate very close to RL 22.
Pretty temp stable, too. Dave.

I tried Reloder 22 and D4350 today, back to back. They seemed pretty close to me. 47.5 grains of each using Lapua brass and a 139gn Scenar.
Reloder 22 got me 2649 fps average, 35 ES, and 0.975" 5 shot group.
D4350 was 2659 fps average, 22 ES, and 0.780" 5 shot group.
To be fair to the Reloder 22, I haven't tried it with this exact bullet before, and the D4350 load was pretty close to what looked best from my initial 3 shot load tests to see what ballpark I should be in. Previous best load using Reloder 22 in this rifle was 47.2 gn with a Barnes 145, around 3/4" 3 shot groups at 200m. Best so far with the 4350 is 47.6 gn with a Scenar 139, 5 shots at 100m, 0.427". I haven't tried either for temperature stability yet.

Is that last summer’s D4350 or the most recent lot CanAmmo is selling now?

I just got another 5lber yesterday, still the same lot as the one I got last summer.

Lot 25? I must have been thinking of D4064... I think that’s the one that is restocked in a new lot #. I’ve got a pound of the D4350 to try out but the big question is temp stability.

Also found IMR4166, 4451, and 4955 at the old Can Tire today. Wasn’t aware of the Enduron powders. I guess nobody else around here was either as they were looking very lonely in the case. Thanks todbartell!

Yup, the 4350 they're selling is still lot 25. The 4064 is a new batch, but I never got any of the last one so can't compare. I've got 10lbs of the current batch now though. I tried a few rounds today to compare with the old IMR4064 I had, and smart charge weights seemed about 100fps slower in my 308 with d4064 and 178gn bullets. Have to shoot it a bit more to see how it goes, but so far it looks a bit slower than IMR 4064.
