Reloder 33!

LOL. You sound like an addict Eagleye.

I am!, I am!.....guilty as charged, lol. :D ;)
I have enough variety of powder on hand to load everything from the
25ACP right up to the 50BMG.
However, I would love to try this slow burning number, since most powders in the RUM case are quite a bit short of a caseful at max pressures.
Looking at RL50 as well.
Regards, Eagleye.

Found this on the Interwebs - allegedly from Alliant. Looks like its burn rate is between Retumbo and H50BMG.

Very nice, it seems similar to N570. In my 7mm STW 84gns of N570 gives a 160gn Nosler 3120 fps, it would be nice to have an alternative to N570

Anyone know if there are significant temp variations with RL33?
Thanks

Both IMR7828, and R-25 will drive a 160gr bullet faster than that in the 7mmSTW.

In my STW with a 27" 3-groove Pac-Nor, I could drive the 160 Partition to 3250 safely, using [now obsolete] H5010.
Regards, Dave.

I have driven the 160gr Accubond to over 3250fps with both IMR 72828, and R-25, in 26" barrels. 3120fps is easy to obtain with several powders.

Its come to my attention that you're an interesting fellow.:D

I shoot quite a few "Overbore" cartridges, and for me, there are many "holes" in the H1000 to 20N29 range. I have (in no particular order of burn rate):

Re25
Re50
H1000
Retumbo
H50BMG
US869
H570, H5010 and H870 (all obsolete)
20N29

There are many cases where you can only go to 90-95% case capacity, or you run out of space. Of course accuracy is paramount, but my "ideal" powder is:

- spherical (less abrasive on the throat, easier to meter, most dense);
- fills the case (or is slightly conpressed) at max pressure; and
- is accurate.

Temperature stability is less of a factor for me.

H870 was a winner in all three categories for quite a few cartridges, but is now gone. I held out hope for US869: it's spherical; a bit slower than H870 (comparable to H50BMG in the catridges I've used it in); and very dense, but not the most accurate for me to date.

What I'd really like is a powder as slow as 20N29 (next to charcoal in burn rate), but as dense as US869.

That's not Re33, but with it's density and burn rate, it's at least worth a try of one pound in my mind.

There is 2 pounds of H870 listed on the Lansborough auction for Friday night. You can bid online now> Current bid is at $30.00.
Thought you might be interested as I'm not sure how easy it is to find.
Lot # 146

That's nice of you - thanks. I'll think about it - I was in the process of weaning myself from this "orphaned" powder (I have two lbs left...).
