Reloder 50!

Haven't seen Doug yet to buy any so I am waiting for the Big 6.5 reports.

I might try it first in the 257 STW.

I'd like to run it against 20N29 and US869, and see how it compares with regards to load density and burn rate.

Hey Andy;

What is it's appearance, and have you weighed any relative to US869 or H50BMG. I would like to know for my 50. It doesn't like US869 but does very well with the H50BMG and 647 Barnes, however I would like to try the 750 Amax and I think H50 might be a little fast.

Here's an installment on my assessment. As for density, I used a 6.5-300 Win Mag case and filled it to the top. It will hold 90.0 grs of water and 92.0 grs of BLC-(2) which is often used for these kinds of comparisons because it flows so well.

US869 - 95.0 grs - a ball powder and the "Density King"
Re50 - 88.0 grs - a coarse extruded powder
20N29 - 85.0 grs - a coarse extruded powder

I didn't have any H50BMG on hand, but I suspect that it's much like Re50 in both density and grain size.

US869 has so much going for it, but few shooters find that it provides the best accuracy. It's readily available and inexpensive, very slow, very dense, and being a ball powder, meters well, and is less abrasive on throats than extruded.

I really don't have a gun that I could use this powder in.
But I will tell you Relaoder 17 is something else don't hesitate trying in 30.06, 308, and the short magnums. you will be more than pleased

don't mean to hi jack the thread. but just wondering about rl 17 in .308. none of my reloading maunals mention it in this caliber. also got the reliant reloading manual and it does not mention rl17 for .308.

just curious what kind of recipe you have for your .308??

You don't MEAN to hijack the thread? What does Re17 in a 308 have to do with Re50?

How be you do the right thing and delete your post.

Did you not see the quote I used. I was just hoping the person I quoted would respond. So why don't you just keep moving along and pretend you didn't see my post

I loved that powder the minute I set eyes on it. But I did'nt get good results first time around in my 338. She flows so well I'm going to give her another twirl.
