Anyone got one of these? looks like it might be AWESOME! did a search and couldnt find any info. if someone has one let me know how well it shoots, reliability, finish. I have an old 11-87 full length that works great.

thanks

Big +1... the Remington Semi-Auto's are heavy and crude (i.e. not worth the cost).
My personal favourite at this moment in time is the Fabarm S.A.T-8. It costs a lot less than an M4 and is twice the gun the 11-87 is for the same (or less) cost. No joke. I owned the Tactical 1100 before. :)

the finicky 11-87 action is anything but 'tactical'. as has been suggested your $1350 could be better spent.

I would like to see how some of the LE agencies in the USA have say to that statement ;)

To the OP, the 11-87 Police models are excellent actions, theyre still used by many LE agencies today and the Police models always have the internals upgraded over the standard models (even though in my mind they ALL should have the same beefier guts, but thats Remington for ya :D) and too granted the action itself is very old design (in firearms terms) compared to many European offerings, If you have the coin and have the chance to get one, Id do it, heck I have, and I havent looked back! :D

Just my $0.02

just because they are in use by LE/MIL doesnt mean that they are the best tool for the job - simple the result of a decision by corporate/govt bean-counters.

im sure any LEO would trade their 1100/11-87 for a Benelli M4 if they could.

+1 what is the saying? remember your weapon was made by the lowest bidder.

or someone just wanted to put police on the side to inspire that thought that police actually use them...

I never said anything that it was the BEST tool for the job, clearly at the end of the day you would want a firearm that can do its job reliably, efficiently, and safely and the 11-87 Police can provide that... Would it meet any Mil-spec testing?? Heck no... It was never intended for THAT brutal testing, it was only intended for LE to have a potent semi-auto shotgun that can get the job done and get the officer home at the end of the day...

While spending time at school in Colorado, a good friend whos a Sr. Armourer with the Colorado State Troopers still use the 11-87s today, and they dont have any intention of switching as of yet, but as far as M4 vs. 11-87 goes thats a no brainer, since the M4s operating system will always trump any semi-auto shotgun today, but with statements like the 11-87 isnt even a tactical platform and/or even worth the money I dont agree with that at all...

Some day I'll get an M4, Ive always wanted too after having some time with my American comrades, but the pricing here is just to high at the moment...

We're all friends here guys, I aint trying to start a war here :D:D:D

the ridiculous $1350 price tag of the 11-87 tactical puts it nearly into Benelli price ranges.
or you could buy three Mossberg 930 tacticals for that price.

True, however for some individuals $1350 could be their max as well also, and even that could be a stretch, so why go further when its not in your feasible budget...

Im done with the back and fourth as to what this is turning out to be, Im just making my point out to the OP that the 11-87 Police is still an excellent semi-auto shotgun, if OP wants to spend the extra cash on an M4 all the power to him :D

11-87 for $700 would be reasonable... $1300+ forget it. That's it, that's all.
I've also owned a 930 and they are nice shotguns - Extremely good value for the gun!

ya i grabbed a 930 security/field combo and its been great for my needs. The 18" barrel is great for the bush when grouse hunting.
