Hi Guys, got a question... (Turns out its a Shell Catcher)

I got my hands on a new (never fired) 1994 Remington 11-87 Premiere, and there is a removable steel plate thing that snaps on the side of the action. Gun functions virtually the same with the plate on or off, just makes it a little harder to load rounds in the magazine with the plate on. I haven't fired it yet to test with or without the plate.

Would anyone know what this plate is for? Besides covering the "Premiere" I have no idea what it does. Spoke and then emailed pictures to Remington, guy said it was an aftermarket part and no idea what it was for.

Below are some pictures,
Thank-You

Its a shell catcher---reloaders love them as you can pick the empty hull from the receiver rather than picking it up off the ground. But, you can only shot one shot at a time with it attached.
There is a ready market for this device, if you have no need for it yourself.

That is exactly what it is, I tried Googling "removeable plate" and many other names for it, but never "Shell Catcher".

I doubt I'll have much use for it, maybe I'll try to trade it for a choke, currently I only have the Improved Cylinder choke for it.
I reload for centerfire, but don't shoot shotguns enough to reload.
