Another episode with the Remmy 1100. This unit is 18 months old and is the most unreliable piece of machinery that I have ever owned.
The extractor claw broke on me yesterday,I cannot figure out how to replace it myself,am also unable to find any details online. Is this an item that only a gunsmith can tackle ?.

The extractor claw is really quite easy to replace biggssw6. There is a pin under the extractor that is spring loaded. Get a precision screwdriver or some kind of an o-ring pick. Something that is hard and small and push the pin all the way down as far as it will go. Then I tip the bolt on it's side and give a little shake. With some shaking or a little help from a friend with another small pointy instrument, that baby should just come right out. I can't speak for the new 1100's, but I have two older one's from the 70's and they are very reliable. Installing the new extractor is even easier. Simply push the pin in again with your screwdriver and drop that puppy right in place!
