Recently my 1100 has been randomly failing to reload. When it happens the carrier is blocking the path for next round preventing it from coming out of the mag tube. The bolt stops in the open position after ejecting the previous round.O ring is new and gas ports clean so I don't think it is an action issue.I assume its carrier assembly related.Anyone have any tips to help diagnose?

Thanks.

Remove the trigger assembly and clean it really well. Check for any broken parts that interact with the mag tube detents. While the assembly is out, check the long, springy metal detents that keep the cartridges in the mag tube to determine whether there is crud preventing them from recessing into the receiver wall to release the cartridge from the mag tube. I have found bits of plastic from cartridges trapped there...

Are you saying that the carrier remains in it's lowest position or stops part way up, thereby blocking the next cartridge from exiting the mag tube?

Factory ammo?

Have you ever cleaned the return spring and follower accessed through the butt stock? All clean and good?

Likely a bent or distorted carrier dog pin. Could also be full of grease and debris. Pull the trigger group and see if the carrier has a solid 'up" position and a solid down position. It helps to have a another 1100 to change the trigger/carrier assembly with to isolate the issue.

Action spring is new and tube and follower cleaned.Trigger group had a thorough cleaning recently. I will pull again and give it a good look over. Ammo is factory, several different size loads (slugs, BB, buckshot) have all a shown issue.Unfortunately it is very intermittent and unpredictable.I don,t have access to another trigger group but wish I did.

... and the friction rings fall freely on the tube just by their weight...? open them up if they don't... and the O ring is good... and the tube clean and dry....

And while you are at it, remove the magazine follower and clean it and the mag tube so there is no drag there either. I have had crud slow the mag feed response with results almost the same as what you are experiencing.
