Anybody use these? I here they work good in some guns and not in others. Something to do with the sabot sliping through the rifling.?. How are they on yotes if ny gun will shoot them. I have a rem 7400 18" barrel.

I tried them in the early 80s in my '06 before I got a dedicated varminter. They really made a mess out of gophers, but the accuracy was terrible. I could only get 4-5 inch groups @ 100 yards out of my Rem. 700. They're kind of cool looking though, I still have half a box in my basement.

When you spin stabilize a bullet, the rate of spin is determined by the bullet bore, and by the bullet length. Generally, a longer bullet needs to be spun faster.

So if your 30-06 rate of twist is not suitable for the .22 cal bullet, not much can be done to help.

30-06's typically have a 1 in 10 twist. AT-15's have been shooting 55 grain .224 bullets with great success in twists from 1 in 7 to 1 in 12

I tried them once a few years back just for fun. The accuracy sucked the fat one and never bothered using them on anything because of that fact.

Your 7400 wont cycle them. You could always use it as a single shot.

I have also heard this as well, but dont know for sure. I never have owned an auto loading center fire rifle and never will.
