Hello I purchased a rem 40x in 22 lr over a year ago, it doesn’t have the original stock (bdl stock now) the barrel seems to be original but no stamp on it the serial number is 0500 I’m curious on the date of manufacture, and approximate value I know it’s hard without pics. Thanks in advance

I can’t see anything stamped above the forened it may be under the stock but I doubt it if it’s been re barreled it’s professional

Pretty easy to see:

If you don't see anything it's probably been re barreled at some point.

A pre B suffix serial means that it's a 722 action or pre-'64 manufactured.

Mine was #0089. About 2000 were made a year in the peak of production so yours is probably a late '55-early '56

I just took the stock off and no date code any other guesses ? Also the trigger is stamped k Kenyon I’ve definitely never heard of that brand

Karl Kenyon triggers were upgraded target triggers made in the US for both Remington and Winchester target rifles (40X and 52's mostly).

Is the caliber marked on the barrel? Is it stamped or etched?
Is there a proof mark stamped on the barrel?

The rimfires were never stamped on the barrel for their chambering. The left side of the receiver had the chamber stamp. The barrels did have date, manf. stamp , magnaflux inspect, and final insp. stamps. Unless an aftermarket custom rifle all Rem Custom Shop RF 40X and 40XBs were 22LR.

As has been said with a 0500 serial # manf. year is likely 1955. I have a #0595 and date code is PB - 1955. Pictures might help ! Straight bolt handle indicates a 40X if the serial matches the receiver. If the bolt handle is swept ala Rem 700, a 40XB, it is likely the bolt has been changed with that low a serial.

The Kenyon trigger is interesting. It is likely worth the value of the rest of the rifle in collection circles.
