Rem 597 or Marlin 795?

795.jpg

Took her to the range put a couple hundred rounds through her
a couple ftf and the last shot hold open seemed a bit hit and miss
but realized some of the screws were loose imagine that brand new ,tightened her all up and then no issues for a few more hundred rounds
good accuracy and ate everything cant complain .
a bit light on the stock but ill get used to it.

I was out shooting 2 weekends ago with my 10 year old... we were all done and i went to put the trigger lock on it and I noticed a screw behind the trigger guard fell out... of course I was in a gravel pit and not some nice concrete shooting range... so I never even bothered to look for it...... would never find it... took it to my local WSS where I had bought it in january and they fixed it right there in store and no charge.

So ya, I am giving points here to WSS in Kamloops....

But I love the 795. inexpensive rifle and inexpensive ammo = cheap fun...

Since Remington took over building the 795s, they've had a few QC issues. One of them being loose screws from the factory. I currently have 2 795s (well, one is technically my wife's) and both came with 3 loose screws - behind the trigger guard, in front of the mag well and the front sight. Loc-tite the front screw and be sure to keep the other two tight and it'll run like a champ.

I highly recommend the MCARBO spring kit (search for it on YouTube and you'll find ordering instructions in the video description). Best $35 ever spent. Took the trigger pull from almost 9lbs down to 4ish. I also installed a few shims on mine to decrease the trigger pre-travel and to take out some of the internal sloppiness.

Perhaps I'll start a 795 mods thread and post the details and pics. Maybe we can give the 10/22 lovers a run for their money! :p

Mine is on top, wife's is on the bottom: (insert your own joke here) ;)
