I know some people have been having problems with this rifle in 22 LR but does anyone have one in 22 mag/ 17 HMR and if so is there any persistent problems with it? I'm considering the laminated stock heavy barrel in 22 mag.
Ive got the LS HB in .17HMR, great rifle. You will need to float the barrel, and some trigger work is good, but overall, great.
The only malfunction mine had was with Hornady Ammo.....I dunno if I got a bad box or what but the shells just wouldn't drive the bolt far enough back to #### the hammer. It would load the next shell....then nothing. I noticed the spent casings would just dribble out of the gun, where the others would fly out.
Federals, cci's, and remingtons worked perfectly though.
I might consider selling mine......no other reason than I want a .204 and there just isn't enough $ around.
Here's a pic:
Scope is a "sweet 17". 3-12X with A/O and built in drop compensator for the .17.
I don't have any personal experience with the problems but guys on rimfirecentral have been complianing about stovepipes, failure to fire, failure to extract and flyers on the first shot. These complaints were all for rifles in 22 LR and I didn't see much on the 22 mag but I want to make sure before I buy.
I have one in 22LR and at first I had the usual stove pipes but that was fixed with a new volquartsen extractor. I also picked up a volquartsen hammer that made a huge difference in trigger pull. I went through Rimfire Sports for my parts and they have free shipping to Canada.
I also had the mag feeding problems but apparently Remington has a new Gen 3 mag that takes care of those. I just cleaned and polished the follower edges and mine have been fine ever since.
Sorry but I don't have any experience with 17 or 22Mag
Are you using metal or plastic mags? The Gen3 metal mags cured all of the maladies your rifle is exhibiting. Mine runs like a champ with the metal mags!
