Curious to see what type of loads are best for this gun. I'm new to this and understand every individual gun has a preferance and just looking for a good place to start. Thanks

I had one, and I found it shot ok with 43-44 grains of varget, and a 175 SMK seated at 2.810 OAL I used CCI BR primers and Fed GMM as well.

I just could not get along with this rifle so i let her go!

That load shot some really good groups.

Previous poster has it right on - mine also prefers 175 g + I wish I had asked the question myself as I wasted a lot of nice 168 gr before I moved up in weight !! LOL

Milspec Load's

This is what i have found to work best in mine so far .
175 gr , seirra matchking
Federal 210 M ( matchgrade primers )
41.5 gr of Reloader 15
Remmington Brass trimmed to 2.005 "
bullet seated to 2.815 "
:sniper:

My uncle loaded me a bullet nosler balistic tip with varget powder 46 grains and this is the result. what do you guys think?

Nothing wrong with that 3 shot group!

I am assuming with 46.0 grs of varget that was a 165 gr Btip.

I like the the percision crafted target by the way lol! ben there done that lol!

That is typicaly what groups my Mil-spec shot the odd time it would dqueeze out a .3 or .4 ragged hole but would shoot .7 to 1.0 5 shot groups.

And the best part about it as long as your happy, who cares what anyone else thinks.

I personaly think its a good group for a factory rifle.

I Am pleased with mine , I am getting groups of .400 to .500 at and i have had a few at .300 , I have been shooting allong side other guy's at the range who have rifles 4 times more expensive that my Milspec and there groups arn't much better than mine , Pretty good shooting rifle for the price :sniper:

Thanks jason, yea im a neebee and didnt realize i could print targets from the net, by the way i heard u are a great shooter!!! Yea im still new to this game graduated from handguns and ar's. I first bought a sendero 300 rum. I couldnt get good groups at all as this was also my first real rifle. I figured out that that was a wrong choice and sold it to buy the 5r. My groups were generally 1 to 1.7 moa but i am noticing now when i fell like the shots were good or bad. I put a bear claw recoil reducer on to help me also. I am gonna try the loads from you and machinist and see what i get but i think my actual shooting is getting better. I also have a tasco super sniper 10x on it. I want a leupold mark 4 front focal $1700!!!! Any suggestions on scopes would also be appreciated. Thanks guys for being so helpful

Where do you shoot, come out to my club, Orono I will let you try some optics, if you would like.

I shoot most sundays at that club.
Your milspec is a good choiceI still think I have some ammo left from mine that you can try SAMMI Spec loaded with varget.

Do not get discouraged with it, as long as your happy one hole groups are few and far between and only the honest guys will admitt this. Specialy with factory equipment.

I will put some tools in your hand that will do it and you can give it a try.

Thanks for the invite, got myself in some trouble on the weekend so might have to lay off for a while, stupid mistakes and chances are not worth it. Sucks to be me right now
