Rem 600 project advice/opinions

Are there any metal trigger guards readily available these days, either steel or aluminum?
The original plastic ones don't hold up very well at all.

A friend has one in .350RemMag. That is a serious thumper.

Have one I rebuilt years ago. Sent it back to Remington for a new barrel, rebuilt the stock to Mannlicher style. Handy .243.

SuperCub was nice enough to share this link below with me, heritage-arms.com also sells then but a little more $. Not sure about getting them across the boarder.

600s are worth working on.
Deal with the safety - sure looks like a 700.
When the bolt is open, there isn't much holding it in place, but it shouldn't flop that much. Bolt stop has been messed with?

I just put a carbine together on a 600 action. Stock from the EE, a XP100 barrel in 7BR. Trigger guard is bowed, of course. Stock had a pad added without shortening, so it was way too long. Cut and refitted, so it is just right now.

Do you think the hole trigger is from a 700 or just the leaver, like to know if i could just order a leaver or better off replacing the entire trigger?
Thanks
Lyle

Go see Rob at Wise Choice up highway 11 north of Washago and see what he can do for you. Ask if he can rebore that worn out 6mm barrel to something else. 250 Savage would be sweet. I know he has a 284 reamer. I just looked, my 660 firing pins don’t stick out the back like that. I think you have a Frankenstein on your hands.

I recently bought an aluminum trigger guard from Willie, the same as in the link from the 24hour campfire link. It was a very nice product. I suspect the fit would be excellent on a factory rifle, however mine (new to me with issues as well) has a Timney trigger which took a little dremel and file work to cut in. It was an enjoyable project, nothing too extreme.

My 600 Mohawk is chambered 6x47 Rem, used it for short range benchrest league this year and did quite well with it. Great little rifle! I could see myself with another someday, hunting rifle in .260 would be very nice.

Ive talked to Rob at Wise Choice a couple times, nice guy and heard good things. Didnt know he did boaring, thanks I will. 284 is interesting. Ive heard a guy up by sudbury does some boaring as well.
I knew I had a Frankenstein when i pulled the stock to see yard sale stickers on it! Not sure i noticed different firing pins from my 660. Ill take another look at them! Thanks

Your Mohawk sound cool in 6x47. Dont hear of that every day.

Still trying to figure out why the bolt handle comes too far down to make contact with the stock? See dents in stock in the photo, what could be causing this or what do i look at to fix?
