Howdy,
Found a rifle in 300SAUM, its a 673 guide gun, i dont know much about these rifles, except i always wanted one in 350rm, I have the 358 covered an the SAUM is on the list.

Does anyone own one of these an whats the pros an cons.?

Pretty keen for it.

I had a 673 in 300 saum, and really liked it. I pulled the rib off and put some plug screw in the holes, mounted a 2.5-8 vx-111 in talleys, and it made fora very nice handling rifle. A buddy did the same thing w/ a .350 RM version and it's a great.

Can you share more info on why you took off the Rib... thats what draws me into this gun..
The rib and the sharks fin front sight some simply hate the look and others say it's so unnecessary. I like the look fine. The rib shows up on the 673 of course since its a 21st century stylized copy of the 1960s M600s. BTW the M600 has a plastic rib whereas the M673 has a metal one. The M673, while it looks like the M600, is actually about a pound heavier. Should be a good rifle though. Around here the SAUM series has been sidelined by the way more popular WSM series.
I'd be interested in what COAL the SAUM Mag box permits. I know a good friend's 673/350RM only permited him the usual 2.825 COAL - same as my M600.

6 -throw back to the 600
7 -built on the M7 action
3 - issued 2003
Here's my original M600 with its rib hunting - first few seconds of clip especially - my son passed on this bear - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6oHQ0NBQbk

I like the rilfe for the stock design. It handles recoil and points really well. I absolutly hate the rib and sites, and much prefer a good quality scope mounted nice and low, so pulling the rib was an easy choice for me. To each his own.
