I decided to swap the stock on my Rem 700 BDL .338 WM (with original detachable mag), as the factory walnut stock was just too purdy to continue abusing, + it's always fun buying new gun stuff...right?

I found a nice laminated Remington factory BDL long action stock on the EE, it didn't have the cut out for the detachable mag, but I figured I could easily modify the stock to work with the factory DM set up...also, I thought I was due to try my luck at glass bedding (I used Marine Tex) for the first time.

I can happily report that it all went very well, the stock was easily filed, sanded etc. to fit the DM, the glass bedding job turned out great, with the barrel free floated of course.

This rifle has always shot well with 250g bullets, but I thought I'd try some good old Hornady 225g Interbonds today...all charge weights printed nice groups, but 71g of IMR 4350 was the best at 2825 fps and a .561" three shot group at 100 yrds.

This is the stock before I got my hands on it...
