Rem 700 BDL Stock Strip Factory Finish

I have a older Rem 700 BDL stock (aluminum butt plate) thats needs to be refinished what works best to strip the factory finish.

Also concerned on how to best protect the factory forend tip.

I would just avoid it. But if you want to tape it, go for it.

OP,
You will need a stripper that will remove Imron of which is an epoxy base.
(highly unlikely w/o scratching/scuffing the surface first)

Be double careful with that black tip. It's plastic and any stripper on it at all eats it. Don't ask me how I know.
