Rem 700 bolt face for 6mm arc?

Hey guys.
If I wanted to build a 6mm ARC on a 700 action, which short action clambering would I need to acquire to have the correct bolt face?
It's a necked down 6.5 Grendel and I've never heard of a 700 in that clambering.
Any help would be appreciated.

Based on a .220 Russian case it's a lousy cartridge for a 700 action. Remington have never made a bolt face in that configuration. That case is the reason some shooters installed part of the Sako extractor system, but ruining the safety of the original extractor system.

I have heard some shooters simply use a .308 bolt face and bend the extractor in enough to catch the smaller 220 Russian rim.

All in all it is still a lousy cartridge in a 700.
 
You could set up a bolt with the proper face using parts from Pacific Tool and Gauge. You will not have the 700's safety breeching if you use this option; either a Sako or M-16 style extractor is used.

Did you go direct or through a dealer? I need some 700 parts and am thinking of just placing a bulk order of extractors and ejector kits to make it a one-shot deal, especially if it's gonna cost me for an export permit.
 
From Hornady load data... 6 ARC for bolt rifles and 105gr class bullet maxes out around 2750 - 2850fps in a 24" barrel. Max 62,000psi

6 CM start load is around 2700fps in a similar length barrel.

If you use Hodgdon tables you can see a pressure rating for these speeds too. Lower pressure equals longer bore life, less "hard" fouling and usually, wider and more stable accuracy node.

That's pretty reasonable. I haven't ordered from them for a while just cause it's always turned into a hassle.

Like others have said, would be much easier to build a 6BR and you'd get similar performance (albeit with the ability to push a bit harder, I believe). All the Grendel based calibers are really designed to fit within the constraints of a small frame AR, not really much point going to great lengths to run them in a short action bolt gun, imo.
