Rem 700 Bottom Metal.

Howdy.

I have a Rem 700 in .308. I'm looking to convert it to a box fed magazine.

From what I have been able to see, there are several brands of bottom metal available. Is there any recommends? Any avoids in the list below? Anybody see / know of better prices? Canadian retailer???

Also, all say that there is "minor inleting" required. I'm assuming this is shaving part of the stock off to let the box fit???? Anybody do it them selves? Issues???

You'd be no further ahead, as these after market ones are miles ahead of most factory offerings, and any that are equal will have those prices built in.

OP - Vbull Precison is Canadian made, but not cheap.

Really?.... I don't know the prices on all models but in the synthetic sps versions the detachable mags are significantly cheaper than the hinged floorplate models..... hmmmm

The factory rem dm is a joke compared to the above mentioned systems. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for.
 
I have HS pressision in a couple of mine and I belive they are by far the best I have run into pricey as well but well worth it, I did not need to do any mods to any of my guns to make them work, the Qwik Klip is junk pure junk, pay the money and you will be happy with the choices you have mentioned the badger one I have seen as well looks and functions great I just have a likeing for HS a little better.
 
I installed a Badger arms rig for a neighbour a year ago, `twas a syntetic stock and i had to mill some material away on the bottom to get it to seat deep enough. Took maybe 1/2 hr.and that included time deciding how to best do the job. Feed nice. The others i can`t comment on.

I can certainly tell you the 6 whitetails I have taken with my 700 sps DM would vouch for how well it shoots, handles and feeds.....

Not saying it;s the best out there by any means but no reason to be a gun snob either.... :)

So what did it take to get the job done... or how did you do it!????

Some of those prices include an AICS mag or two.....

And I like my rifle. I just want to tinker with it so I like it more. Kind of like my wife. I like her fine, but if she had a boob job so I could play a little better I'd like it more!!!!
