Howdy

I have been looking at getting a Remington 700 CDL in .30-06

But after reading many threads about Remington's hit and miss quality control, I'm a little worried.

I would like to here from anybody that has bought a CDL in any caliber, if they are happy with their rifle.

Thanks

I have one here in 35 Whelen. Am very pleased with the fit and finish overall. The R3 pad and stock shape does a very good job controlling recoil. A 30/06 would be a breeze to shoot.

See my sig line for pics.

I was gonna buy a CDL in 30-06 but they didn't have it in time and i ended up with a Mountain LSS 30-06...i don't know yet if i made the right decision to go with the pencil barrel and thinner gun.

Exactly why I'd wish they'd bring out the CDL in .260 Rem..

I have owned 3 700 CDL's. One in 35 Whelen, one in 30-06, and one in 270. These are great rifles, and have a sensible stock design IMHO. All of these shot very well, well enough that I let myself be talked out of two of them because observers saw some of the groups and started pining for the rifle. I have kept the 270, which has a gorgeous piece of wood, and also shoots the 140 Partition or Accubond into ¾moa or less with handloads. It will be Deer hunting with me all fall. I particularly liked the R3 Recoil pad on the Whelen. Sure did tame that rifle. Regards, Eagleye.

Not rumours. I saw several first hand, brand new out of the box that would make you shake your head. Of course, this was before Winchesters quality took a steep downward pitch. And we know which of the two survived. Now, things are different. I've looked at several new Remingtons that were flawless. In comparison, one of the last model 70's I looked at, a RMEF Super Grade stainless had a barrel channel that could have been carved with an axe. Remington has cleaned up their act, but I think it's because perhaps their appealing more to the budget minded shooters. A few years ago, they had the 710. There were a few ADL's kicking around, but not many. Now they have the SPS line, and have made themselves more available to new shooters. Maybe it's because the can concetrate on making everything work better, because they don't have to worry about the extra costs of working the wood? I don't know, but I'm certain their selling more guns nowe than before. And a good businessman would have been paying attention to the bad press. It looks like their fazing out the BDL, and going hard on the CDL, which should be a little cheaper to produce. They might use those savings all around to help with QC keep the customers happy. Their the big player now, and they have a good product again.

Very happy with my CDL in 26-06. No complaints with QC - fit or finish ...
but did take the trigger pull down to a nice crisp 1350 grams.

Smallest 100 yard group so far ... .187"... but most average .250" - .375". Several at 200 yards at under .750". Very acceptable for a hunting rifle.
Handloads with 75 V-max, 85 & 115 BT's ... working on a 110 Accubond load next.
