Rem 700 firing pin spring

Anyway, back to my OP...

I will order a new spring next first workday.

I got this press force - load cell controller couple weeks ago (from aliexpress) with in mind I want to build a tester tool for my inline bullet seating press.

The ****thing manual is in Chinese. So far I could not collect enough nerves and patience to figure out how to get the - HOLD the Peak value.
Tomorrow maybe I will call my son, I need a third hand to measure the existing firing pin spring.
So... the spring shall be minimum 23 lbs?
 
Measured the load on the spring.
8.9 Kg = 19.6 lbs
I was expecting some amount of tiring, the bolt was stored for long in non firing position.

Now to figure where to source a new spring in Canada.

gretanrifles.com comes to mind, but open for suggestions

I fully understand what you saying about 5 or 10 shot groups, but not testing scores for now, only taking over the "load development" from a friend hands, and I want a fresh start from scratch.

I am playing with it right now. There are sub-menu's missing directions (in the manual) how to get into.
Even utube in some other weird languages :) and trying to learn from the screen only what they do with fingers.

My initial idea was to measure the force during the bullet pressing into brass. Something like the AMP Press on low budget.

This what I am picking up tricks with the controller. I have no f@cking idea what the guy is saying there.

comparing BR scuba gun shooting to Fclass is about the same as comparing ISU air pistol to cowboy action - completely different disciplines.
However, the last year I was shooting 308 and 6mmBR extensively I went through 40 pounds of powder in a year - all from 300 to 1,000 meters , so take that as it may.:)

As per current (also past) prices on 308 amo, for a cost of 100 I can have 2000 shots in 22 cal or 1800 shots in cal just only puffing air. And that is about my by-weakly average over the summer season. My airgunner friends South of border buying lead pellets in 25 Kg bulk packs, delivered on skids.
What is wrong with training and practicing with a scuba gun?
A ring is a ring no matter how big or far it is, all have an X in the center ;)

Nothing wrong with it( and I never said anything derogatory about scuba guns) except for the fact that the distances are much closer .
Also, if you are shooting indoors the wind is not a factor.

I know, :) it just never happened to me feeling like shooting a scuba gun . That was funny :)

Here it is - the gizmo - if anybody ever wonder what we were talking about.

I am usually refilling that scba (firefighters air) tank on the right side on table about every 8-900 shots, and I have two of these in active duty.

I have couple of rests, but for tuning I like to use this one piece rest.

One of my targets how I am testing the - speed to Twist Rate ratio on POI.
10 shot groups, as you told me earlier.
A beauty is that with airguns I can change parameters right there at the bench, on the gun, and we can see how the POI group is changing shape and moving around POA. No handpicks, I like to monitor it this way, taking pictures with my notes...

I have no indoors ranges close by, only this gun club 15 minutes from my door.
I am shooting N50 and 100 BR, also speed silhouettes with the next gun.

Once you start down the rabbit hole of F class competition and tuning Centerfire ammo for the level of performance possible, you will understand what I mean.

Pity Connaught is not available to compete at these days. I am sure you will bump into many shooters who know who I am and likely competed with me.

I had a conversation with gretanrifles.com.
Since my bolt OD is 0.689", pin OD 0.290" he's ceramic spring would not fit on my existing pin.
Not sure if I would wanna go with fluted pin that is much lighter?
I know that I am not that level of shooter to feel the difference... but again getting back to the story no matter what I would need to order from US.
 
Brownell and Midway doesn't ship to Canada.
Pacific Tool & Gauge asking $47.25 USD for USPS shipping a $9 spring .... I would probably not have issues buying a $47.25 spring with $9 for shipping.
