Rem 700 long range in 7mm

Mines been good to me, had it threaded and a Badger Thruster installed, like shooting a 223. Also dropped a tmney trigger in it. Used it out to 1km with good results.

I put a 300WM together for a colleague. Lapped rings, mounted a scope, and did some range work. Not bad for the price. The stock is OK, I would prefer an HS or McMillan. Be careful and inspect a potential purchase closely as there are a few issues in quality control.

My only real complaint is the same with every factory Rem700, the triggers suck. I added a Timney into my colleague's rifle and made it significantly nicer to shoot.

But, I would suggest spending the extra $500 over the base price and just buy the Sako 85 Long Range. Much nicer rifle and no need to spend additional money replacing a trigger.

The Sako 85 is over $2000, the 700 Long Range is under $1000. I could get a 700 Long Range and throw a match barrel on it for less then the production Sako.

What kind of accuracy are you guys getting?

This was 3 cold bore shots at 100m just to verify zero before going out to the long range farm. It opens up a bit when you get it hot, which isn't hard with 7mm, never opens up more then MOA. I let it cool well between shots trying hard...hitting steel I'll shoot faster.

My first three shot group looked just like that. I have no pics but three right on top of each other.
