I like pounder's set up!
I have something similar on my Win Model 88 rebarreled to 338 Federal for use in the thick timber tracking wounded bears for friends, or for hunting moose.
While it may not be perfect, it is quick and functional in the field with a multitool. And you have a backup in the event the scope fails for any reason. And you can still keep hunting!
