Got another one I don't keep here so I'm not tempted to put a scope on it and use it, usually just look at it once a year to make sure it's where I left it.

How do you like the PTG canoe bottom metal on the 6.5RM Tuff? Helps with stacking three down a bunch eh?

Ya I didn't try the regular one, went straight to this like you suggested. It doesn't swing open as far as the stock floorplates as i've been loading from the bottom lately as i'm using all the mag length on my 130 swift s2's and still .110 off the lands. heard they like to jump a bit but further back then I wanted but accuracy ain't to bad and want to smack something with the bullet. Finding that easier than making sure there just right from the top. I like the feel of it, its a nice upgrade for sure.

First world problems I guess :) I see a couple of yours are missing a leupold or 2 and some bolt machining still!

I have no pics on hand, but I have some of the short action Rem 700 BDL V.S. rifles. I know I have the 222, as I bought it brand new for my youngest son one Christmas many yrs ago and he wasn't using it, so I asked him if would sell it to me, got it and the 223, 22-250, 243, missing the 6mm, forget it I have the 7mm-08 or not, haven't got the 308 in that configuration, but have it in a custom built "big green gun" as it's know around here. Steve (GunPro) built me a left hand custom Apatchie Gold laminate thumbhole stock that accepts the right hand short action bolt action rifles. It is interchangeable with all my V.S rifles.

Just posted in the ...other 700 forum..
Trying to figure out what colour to cerakote this bad boy. All black or camo pattern. This has been a year of tweaking this thing. I've finally found the set up I want.

Sweet. I love the deep fluting. Nice way to revive a dead thread.
She's a beaut just the way she sits. Perhaps just a clear coat to preserve the look of the barrel? I like the contrast.

You don't mind me asking who did the fluting? I've had two smith's turn me down for a job because I wanted the fluting too deep. I see nothing wrong with what you've had done.

Jan at precision arms in Cranbrook BC. He's the man.
It cut a ton of weight down with the flutes and 6" chopped off.
I will have to do something to keep the rust off if I'm taking it in the bush. So I'm leaning towards matte black like the parkerized finish it came with. But ive been talking to black box customs about a digital camo in black and grey. Can't decide. It's pretty handy even for the weight. I feel like I found the sweet spot (finally) between a bench rifle and a hunting rifle. I don't mind the extra weight. It stacks 168gr on top of each other.

Awesome. I've got a 700 VSSF 22-250 that I've been trying to get rebarreled with a stainless in 6.5 Creedmoor. I want to go with black cerakote while leaving the flutes silver (exact opposite color scheme to how it sits now from factory). The guys I've talked to won't flute it that deep.
Thanks for the info.

It's funny because when I picked it up I was almost speechless on how deep the flutes were. Haha. Lots of meat on a heavy barrel. Still very accurate but much lighter.

Standard rem 700 SA with 308 Bartlein 1/13 Med. Palma at 24", put together in 2011 with an experimental very lightweight carbon stock that only weighs 828grams. Later barrel cut to 20" and for the summer I had a 223 sitting in the same stock after re-spray as my fox rig. 223 was an ex 17rem but we found a 223 take off barrel for it. Shot fox out to 360m with cheapy 50gr HP American Eagle ammo. Great rifle.

Boring, inexpensive 700 long range in 7rm, didn't really need much to get it shooting well which is what I like.
