Rem 700 Police (done search) Looking for honest oppinions

Ok before you start bashing me about th ethread, I have read lots about this firearm, on here and many other forums, site ect......... I do own more 700 rifles than any one kind!

I am concidering buying the 700 Police 26" rifle, in a 308, for the reasons i really enjoy shooting the 308 cartridge. I have owned (several 308 ) Tactical firearms 2, 10FPLE1's and I own a Tikka tactical in the 20 Inch barrel. (never had a rem 308 tac) got sendaros but no tacs
Out of these 2 firearms i much perfer the tikka T3, and its a real tac driver, but I am looking for something different to play with!

Looking for real oppinions on this rifle, how do they shoot? And from people that shoot them not just read about them or are oppinionated one way or the other, want to hear the good/bad /ugly if it exists! and not just a fluke 5 shot group, but what will it do day in and day out. I have handled one in the store liked the feel and fit!

What bullet wieght does it like , i want to shoot 168s not able to do that in my twist from the tikka, and the 20 inch barrel limits the velocity!

So please just looking for good old honest oppinions of this product, it looks solid to me and for the money its a great deal, never owned a 700 that dissapointed me in accuracy!

I own a 700P in 308 with 26" barrel. I had it custom bedded and got the trigger pressure lowered too. I started firing 168gr HPBT, but now fire 175gr HPBT. My rifle likes both just fine, and I now pick off golf balls for fun at 150yds. Preforms quite well in my hands, and I'm still learning.
 
I have a 700P in .308. As above, trigger job, custom bedding, etc.
As the same above, it likes both .168 and .175.
I love my rifle and wouldn't give it up for the world.:D
 
I'm pretty disappointed with the 700P in .223Rem. I got one from WSS in Calgary in May and the firing pin hole in the bolt face was too big, resulting in cratered primers. Also only one bolt lug making contact and a very long leade. Group size was >1.5 MOA with factory ammo.

I managed to get them to exchange it for another, it has the same bolt face problem though not as bad.

I have a 700P in 308 and I have one in 223...Both are fantastic rifles and I have no reservations promoting them to you...I was at the range on Monday and from a cold barrel my 308 grouped .7 at 100 meters with surplus portugese FMJ...The 223 seems to like rem umc ' yellow box ' 55 gr fmj to the tune of .8 - .9 @ 100 meters....This acccuracy is pretty good considering your looking at around 5-7 dollars for 20 rounds...handloads and match ammo would 'tighten' up the groups more I would surmise
 
Got one in .308 Win topped with a Leupold VXIII 6.5-20x40mm AO.... shoots real well. But so does my 20" barrel Savage 10 LE topped with an econo Bushnell 3200 10X mil-dot....
 
I own a police 700 in 300 ultra mag and i love it. you have to get the crappy 7 pound trigger pull lowered or better yet buy a jewel trigger. my buddy just bought a police 308 and he shoots blackhills 175gr and it is extremly accurate.
 
I don't care for the "Palm swell" on the Police grip. It shortens up the reach to the trigger too much for me. I prefer the similiar varmint synthetic stock's more traditional grip. Just personal preference though.

Got one in 308 topped w mark4 6.5x20x50 for 2 years now, about 1500rds shot. Shoots very well for a factory rig... Can hold 1/2moa to 200yds with my handlods. (Never tried it over that distance) No bedding job done to it. Only mod is the factory trigger dropped to 3,5 lbs and the stock is filled with a mixture of lead shot and epoxy to give a 4 lbs extra weight. By the way this mod is quite a nice one... this baby is a whole lot more fun to shoot now!
