I know there has been a vast discussion on Rem's QC however, I have a couple of specific questions for all you 700 owners out there.

I've owned and SPS and a VTR and for the most part was pleased with the rifles. There are a lot of other offerings for the 700 in various barrel and stock options. My question is:

Are the lower end SPS rifles the same rifle/action as the higher end rifles such as those offered with a laminated or otherwise upgraded stock or do they have better actions, triggers etc...

Thanks

a cdl has a much better finish and stock than an sps but the reciever, barrels and triggers come off the same line. in other words a crappy looking sps may outshoot a finer finished rifle.

700 Rems are 700 Rems, same action, bolt, trigger etc.

Pretty sure the newer SPS's will have the new X-Pro trigger (I think its called) From what I read - Remington, who has always had one of the best, if not the best, factory installed adjustable triggers, decided they too needed a new trigger with a gitchy name - thus was born the x-pro which reviews call crap compared to the original 700 trigger.

I have a couple of SPS rifles as well as BDLs with the old trigger , both can be adjusted to be crisp and light enough for a hunting rifle but the Xpro is a bit more trouble ( for me) to get a consistent pull. I took one apart and cleaned up a rough surface and it was fine.

Yes but so will the rest of the 700 fleet have the x-pro trigger, my meaning was that for any given year of 700 they will all have exactly the same features. There has been evolution good or bad but it is equally applied across all 700s.
