rem 700 SA floor plate to mag conversion

alberta tactical makes some nice ones. Badger ordanance too. I'd stay away from kwik klip, they work but are made of plastic. Remington sells their factory detatchable bottom metal as well, clip and metal for less than $150. I read a few posts here saying that the factory DM "won't work" on your hinged floorplate rem 700, can't figure out how mine has worked for the past 4 years with no feeding problems. What a mystery. And thats using a .308 factory clip for a 700 sps stainless in .300wsm.

The kwik klip I have is anything but plastic, works perfect, and installed with no issues? Have they changed to plastic? Mine is about 4 years old.

I got one with a plastic clip, about 3 years ago.....Peoples opinions vary. It's not like it didn't work but i'd just rather have metal.

Marlin- I believe the "swap" is pretty straight forward if you stick with the factory bottom metal that has the clip. I have done this, and only had to inlet the stock on each side (at the bottom) to accomodate the bottom of the mag box and release. Takes about 15 minutes to do a good job using a file. Perhaps with some of the longer mags, it is not even necessary to do the inlet?
