I understand why he wants the stainless bottom metal. The 5R comes from the factory with stainless bottom metal. Normally when people switch out the stock they re-use the same bottom metal. I'm wondering whether he actually bought a 5R or if he's ended up with a cheapo parts gun built on an SPS Varmint. Of course the SPS Varmint uses stainless as well. The only way to tell is for the OP to examine the bore and determine whether his rifle has the five lands with angled edges or the six lands found in the traditionally rifled barrels. It is possible that someone installed the stock and bottom metal from an SPS Tactical, but why anyone would do that is beyond me.
It just doesn't make sense to me to remove a $300 dollar stock and throw on a cheapo $50 Hogue with non matching bottom metal. Something isn't right.
I just hope that the price reflected the condition is all I'm trying to say.
