Looking at getting either the rem 700p or xcr tactical... in .223rem...
New they are bother around $1200.. seems like a pretty good deal.

Seem to have almost the exact same features. Opinions on one versus the other? .. or even an alternative in the same price range with similar features.... going to be used as a target shooting platform.

Advice/opinions/reviews appreciated... I DO know how to use the search option and have.. looking for comparisons or more personalized opinions given the situation. Thanks... look forward to hearing what those who know more than I do have to say. :)

Your best bet is to acctually go with a 700 sps varmint or sps tactical...every bit as accurate but alot cheaper which saves money for decent glass. got my SPS varmint ( super accurate) in .223 for about 600 ish..cant remember exactly but i was also able to get good optics and a bunch of boxes of ammo and a OK bi-pod and the total price was under 1100... you should reallllly check out the sps varmint/tactical

I sold my 2007 Rem 700 police in .223 and bought the XCR LRT with green B&C stock.in 223. there is a big differance in feel of the two guns the XCR is way better than the Police the bolt on the XCR is like it was in Butter compared to Police. For accuracy I can't really say which is better they both shot good but I have worked much more with load development with XCR and have been able to get to .250" ish with 69 gr sierras & 75gr VLD Bergers, and 75gr HPBT Hornadys using three powders 540,Varget & Rl15 I have not loaded anything smaller than 69gr. I did not like feel of large pistol grip on police model, but you should look at both I am pretty sure the XCR is $250 more than the Police model but I could be wrong.

the sps varmint has a 12" twist rate versus 700p and xcr tactical's 9" .... the sps tactical doesnt list it on the rem site... thanks for the advice though... def a cost effective alternative... but to be honest I'd be willing to spend the extra money...
