Need help, what other Remington stock would fit on a new 700SPS. I just purchased a new Rem 700SPS DM in 7-08 and the stock is to long for my 12 year old son. So I was wondering if another stock in wood could be purchased and copped off to fit him better. Im thinking maybe the stock off of the Mountain Rifle with DM. What can somebody tell me?
Thanks
Jordan

The 700 Mountain DM woood stock will work fine, but you will probably have to open the barrel channel slightly, since the mountain rifle has a slimmer barrel profile. Other than that, it will work perfectly. Regards, Eagleye.

the DM version really limits your options

like said, the mtn rifle DM would work, if you cut it down and open up the barrel channel.

I was just thinking that the BDL stock in the DM model should work as well then. My sons arms have to grow about 2.5" to make a regular stock work for him.

Could a regular floorplate BDL model stock not work, if you take the trigger guard and mag assembly off the SPS and put it on the BDL stock??? Or is it moulded right in the stock?

BDL DM stock will work also, but keep in mind that the BDL stock is a bit "bulkier" and may not be as well suited to a youth. The BDL with Floorplate stock will not fit without serious modifications. You cannot transfer a Floorplate/magazine box to a DM model, since the feedrails, etc are different. Eagleye.

so what, about 3 weeks then? :)

Jordon,
You may be approaching the problem backwards. Consider chopping the tupperware SPS stock down, and finding a wood stock at your leisure. You might be suprised at how much good take-offs are worth. SPS takeoffs are a dime a dozen.
