I'd take the 710.

You can at least put a 3x9 Tasco in Weaver R&B on it and have a higher probability of hitting something.

I'd have given the guy a kung-fu chop and then driven away in my AMC Gremlin, making sure that my leisure suit and perm were lookin' outta sight!

You're comparing a farm tractor with a boat anchor here, the only time I'd ever even consider touching a 710 would be if I need an anchor for the boat when going fishing.

With all of the plastic parts on that gun, I'd really have doubts as to its effectiveness as an anchor. At least the SKS would be heavier, and might even shoot without any problems once you dry it off and go back to using it in its intended role.

Before throwing it overboard, I'd still be interested to see if the 710 barrel could be salvaged and perhaps mated to a decent milsurp action.

While I have a preference for nicer guns when hunting, that's not for any lack of confidence in my SKS's ability to bag deer-sized game, as I seemed to have lucked across a fairly accurate one that's works reliably. If I had to hunt with the Bubba described at the beginning of the thread, I wouldn't give a damn about what he thinks about the SKS.

Back to the issue of tackiness though, a friend of mine says that he used to be really proud of his AMC Gremlin with denim interior....

If this guy wanted to give you a ass rapin' whats the chances that he is gonna give you a working gun.

So I'd pick the 710. Because it seems to me it would be easier for him to make the semi-auto inoperable than the bolt action.

he comes to the sks forum and calls a members new sks an anchor, is that nice?
To be specific, it's not just any olde anchor............... It's a BOAT anchor, totally suitable for mall ninjas (that have graduated from paintball and airsoft), and those roving troves of NVA wannabes. :ninja:

How do you spell GHEY?? -------> S-K-S.

I'm pretty sure that with minimal practice, I'd have little trouble consistently hitting the 200m gong at the Silverdale range, using my stock Norinco SKS. If I could do that with my ability, then most people should find an SKS sufficient for deer within the ranges encountered in central and eastern Canada.

Ideally, I'd prefer using a .303 Enfield (original or bubba'd) over either the 710 or SKS, as I'd feel a bit more comfortable with the added takedown power of the .303british, and especially like the peep sight option on the #4mk1 or 2. I'd actually be surprised if the Bubba in this scenario did not offer that option, since the Enfield has been the favourite rifle of Bubba for the past fifty years.

firstly, i dont have to be specific, most educated members would get its a boat anchor. heck! calling any anchor wouldnt be nice.

secondly, me a mall ninjas? when i retire next year i may hang around malls but move as fast as a ninja , i dont think so , got arithis.

thirdly, graduate from paintball and airsoft ? cant say i have heard of them back when i shot my first rifle a FN C1A1 .

Let's see, a fate worse than death (either rifle) or death by bunga?

I would chose the death sentence, because if these are what the guy has for guns: a) he probably can't get it up
b)he is likely a pencil anyway!

Tough one:confused:.

I can only imagine that gettin' corn-holed is unpleasant - but you can repress those memories & never speak of it again. Have them surface later in some ugly manifestation:runaway:.

On the other hand....the chances are pretty high that your friends might find out that you own a 710 or SKS!!

Which carries the deeper shame?:(
