The old man sent me on a mission.. He's absoulutly dead set on the 7600 platform, but want's to rebarrel a 30-06 to 25-06.. Anyone sell barrels that would work?, or even attempted this?

There's nothing special about 7600 barrels, there's no additional hardware attached to them or anything so it should be doable. Expect to pay $700-$1000, about the same as rebarrelling anything else.

But a 25-06 7600? Kind of a weird combination, no?

If he could live with a .270 he'd save himself a pile of waiting and cash. I wonder if a person could take a .243 and have it bored out and rechambered.
I think the actions are all the same size, but a long mag would be required for sure. What does everybody else think, Paul?

I'm trying to convince him 243 will be best bang for the buck.. He's looking for a varminting rifle for yote's / wolfs yet be able to handle white tails..

For the distances he'd be shooting "accurately", any of the current 7600's would do. .270, .308, .3006, but .243 would be ideal. You can load lighter bullets in any cal for yotes, and heavier for deer. I have some 110gr vmax bullets for my .308's I'm gonna loadup for varmints, and 165gr for deer.

On yotes, you're not gonna get the accuracy to shoot past 200 yds anyway.

LMFAO.Maybe you wouldnt, but most 7600s are plenty capable

Well, maybe its just the guys I've seen shooting them:D Although a yote is a relatively small target compared to deer.

My .308 shoots 3-4" at 200, but I haven't tried any handloads yet

25'06 and 200yd coyotes leaves some big arse holes trust me, no matter the bullet used.
243 and some 55 or 58 gr. varmint bullets is a good coyote gun.
