how to remove or install the ejector port cover on a remington 7600

You mean the receiver assembly? Have a look at the exploded drawing here. Doesn't help much though.

You can try cutting it, if you just want it out of there. Razor knife etc.

I just had the barrel offf my 243 yesterday. Mines a plastic cover. It slid out when I removed the barrel.
Just hold it in place when you slide the barrel back in.

You have to remove the barrel and the bolt to replace the plastic cover.
