Anyone with experience with the Rem 7600P carbine in .308?

How reliably do they feed, how accurate are they, how good is the quality and finally which are the best high capacity magazines and where can you buy them?

I really don't need another .30 cal rifle but............;)

Added later - sorry guys I just found a thread from May on the 7600P. My bad. If anyone has anything to add, I'd apreciate your input.

Try shooting prone and "pumping" at the same time... Also, you have to clean them like a Win 94, from the muzzle end... Nope, not for me. They are nothing than a 7600 "pimped up".

It's not a sniper rifle, so why shoot it prone? They work fine from the bench.

Yes, they do have to be cleaned from the muzzle end. I just took a .223 case and cut of the head, slip it over the cleaning rod and it works great as a bore guide. That works great for all three pump rifles I own.

Many people don't like the pumpguns, but there still many more who have 1st hand experience with them and do like them alot, and for alot of good reasons. They are working, hunting rifles, not a fancy bolt gun or single shot. Watch the used gun section in the EE, or Access to Firearms, or in your local guns shop and see how few of them are for sale. Not many, and for good reason.

They are just a pimped up 7600. Just buy a 7600 Carbine in 30/06 for alot less. My .308 Carbine is a handlful in itself. I wouldn't want that bbl any shorter!

Well, you say it is not a "sniper rifle", but since it is a "P" version wich stands for "Police", you have to agree that in differents real life scenarios, there is a large chance that you have to shoot will being in the prone position. Believe me, when incoming rounds start to fly, you will wish that you can dug yourself in the concrete....;) ...

If this rifle is to be use for hunting/plinking purpose, I also agree that it doesn't matter, but bear in mind that this rifle is supposed to be made for police duty. And, in my own personnal experience, it would not fill at all the task it is supposed to be made for. My dept. have tested these rifles and we figured we better be staying with our old 870P. It is still a pump action, but at least we wouldn't have to take money out to buy the same inappropriate functionning system. Semi-auto would be better for our needs, but more expensive. As for the cleaning, i personnally think that cleaning from the muzzle is something that you do on a rifle that reminds you of past times and that brings you nostalgia (lever guns, silex gun...etc); not on a actual and modern rifle.

But anyway, I do know that Supercub likes is pump and that he shoots it very well...:p

I thought the "P" stood for PIMPED. :)

Actually, truth be known, I own more CF bolt action rifles than pumps. :runaway: :)
