Rem. 770 any good?

So what's the verdect on the new Remington 770?

I know it's an improved 710 model (which most people agree is crap) is 770 any better? I know it's supposed to have an improved bolt and mag well/release.

It'll take a crapload of improvement to get a 710 to even be classed as a "firearm".

It defintely feels better in the hand as to how it will work remains to be seen.The mag release looks the same to me but the bolt does feel smoother.

Looked at one the other day and I'm a dedicated Remington fan. It's a slight improvement over the 710, but still a cheap rifle. Bolt is a little smoother, but still crudely made. As someone who owns and has shot thousands of rounds thru Rem 700's, I cannot appreciate the 770. It does nothing for me. An old milsurp sporterized Mauser does more for me than the 770.

For an extra $100 or so you can get the SPS.

For $30 more than a 770 you can get a Savage 111 (Which is what I, and probably many others would recommend).
