Here's a few pointers about this rifle from Remington. First, my gunsmith turned me on to it and told me to also check out the positive review by Mystic. My gunsmith did a pretty thorough tear down job on the gun and was impressed generally with it. I gave this beast a break in period and tore it down as far as I risk it. I like that the bolt and mag disassemble easily. The trigger weight can be adjusted and I brought mine down to just short of 3 lbs. Trigger breaks clean. Given the budget price point, I put on Weaver bases and EZEE rings lying around my loading bench. Topped it with a Leupold VX2, CDS, 3-9 x 42. Haven't weighed the rig but would put it around 7 3/4 lbs.
This is no piece of gunsmithing art, to be sure. It is a tool and has maybe had some encounters with the ugly tree along it's design path!! Some of the short cuts make me cringe, but, that said, it's lines are not too bad and everything functions well. Proof is on the range, right? Well, I managed to get a couple loads to shoot quite impressively, as shown below. I plan on removing the blade safety from the trigger and maybe filling the butt stock with foam insulation to quiet it down. This will make a good range, truck and back-up gun.
This is the 783 camo stock in 308.
47.5 gr Win 748, Fed 210, Win case full length sized, Hornady 150 gr SST @ 2850 fps.

This one needs some explanation. The hole to the left is from another group. The ragged hole in the centre has 3 shots in it! 45.3 gr RL15, BR2, Win case, 150 gr SST. Mild shooting @ 2715 fps.

More of the W748/150 SST load.
