Hi, well I have it home :)

My uncle was very gracious in heading down to pick it up since I couldn't get away. The work was Done by Mr. Ron Smith and he did an excellent job. I am very pleased, I can't wait to let fly this weekend.

It cycles perfectly and the magazine feed is flawless with the .358 Win cartridges. It is done in the "carbine" style, a nice 18.5 inch barrel with crowned muzzle.

My final Rem 788 line up is a well rounded trio:

788 .223
788 .243
788 .358

Absoloutely, positively, 100 percent guaranteed.....never for sale.

Arch :p

It goes great with my Marlin 336ER in .356 ;)

Hearltless bastard :p

But as a matter of your personal safety arch those two cartridges are very close as you know and easy to mix up. Maybe you should sell me that old .356 to avoid any problems.

Nice little carbine there

Awww poor Salty :D :D :D

Here this will cheer you up....... Stanway just got one (Marlin 336ER) the other night to. Seems everyone has got one except you !:D :p :D

Apologies to Stanway for letting the cat out of the bag, but I just had to poke Salty in the ribs just once more.:D :D :D

I'll keep an eye out for another one just for you.

Arch:)

Thanks arch that'd be real nice of you. Now that you found a 375 win I don't have many jabs to come back with ;) Speaking of which I went down island to pick up some 220gr Hornaday fp bullets that dude had ordered in for me for my 375 but someone bought them before I got there :runaway:

Well, no one is more disappointed than me...the gun arrived last night and I had a look at it this morning....it is a 356win, but it's not a Marlin. It is a Winchester 94AE.:(

I bought it sight un-seen through my father who was 'told' it was a Marlin. Unfortunately, Dad never took a good look at it and now it's too late. I paid way too much for it, so chock it up to experience.:bangHead:

Better luck next time.

A fine 788

Congrats on your completed project and thanks 4 the pics. That straightline clip should make feeding the next round uber reliable. A great plan - a great shooter the result! Let us know how it shoots.

We are 336ER brothers now so U won't mind me saying that U may be getting a case of 35cal fever. I know what it's like firsthand.

nice...but the barrel is too short...please tell us it was already 18-1/2" before the rebore.....anything under 20" is a pistol barrel.....ask Cam(cccan)...he knows...that's why his 358 is a full 22"....:)

Agreed, my personal preference is strongly against short barrels on rifles. But whatever turns your crank, it is your gun, not mine. It looks fantastic otherwise :D
