Rem 7mm Mag problem

Have a Parker Hale 7mm Rem mag on the bench. Tag says it will not extract fired case which is stuck in chamber. Bolt handle will not lift. Cleaning rod inserted in muzzle proves that it is indeed an empty case, not a live round. Use of a rubber mallet allows bolt handle to lift, extractor still holding case. Quarter inch drill rod insrted from the muzzle and use of hammer does remove the case, which seems to have no taper. It is a 7mm mag case, no signs of excess pressure, but half an inch back from the case mouth it measures .520 inches. This is ten thou GREATER than the diameter just in front of the belt. No wonder it won't extract. Rifle is in very nice overall condition, bore looks good, chamber a bit smoky. What is going on here? Can't see any solution other than setting barrel back and rechambering, or else a new barrel.
Comments, please

Parker Hale had a problem. Some of the older 7mm Mags and the 308 Norma Mags "jugged" the chamber on firing due to a very light barrel contour. Others with the steel scope base silver soldered to the top of the receiver ring set back within the locking lugs.

If you have a jugged chamber you will require a new barrel.

Exactly...not IF, but WHEN....I'ld save myself the trouble, and possible catastrophe, and replace the barrel....then you could have the new barrel reamed for whatever calibre your little heart desires....

Or it could be reamed-out to 7mm RUM.

Then you replace the barrel when that chamber bulges.:runaway:

Fingers are hard to replace when that barrel would most likely blow with a longer chamber. It is the light contour over the chamber that is the problem. The RUM would not function in the magazine either.

Was my facetiousness so clever that only Rembo noticed it, or have Gunasauras and Guntech sucked me in by being even more subtley sarcastic by pretending that I was serious?

Ya, that's it....

I thought you were serious.....it's hard to read emotion on a computer.....even easier to mis-read it I'm afraid....glad you were joking...for your own sake....
