Rem 870 12 and 16 gauge

Hi Folks.....

Can I put a 12 gauge barrel on a Remington 870 16 gauge shotgun and have it work with 12 gauge ammo?????

No. The shell stops and mag tube are all set up for 16 gauge shells.

Also, reducing the number of 16 gauge shotguns on the market will get you strapped to a pole, naked, out front of a cougar bar.

Really? 16ga shotguns are in demand? I have an old Mossberg bolt action that I'm going to put up in the EE and figured I'd have a hard time selling it because of the "weird" guage.
Well, we shall see.

The Remington 870 16 ga. is a rather crass attempt to capitalize on the proven superiority of the 16 ga for upland bird hunting. However, there is absolutely no advantage to using a gun made on a 12 ga. frame, with an overall weight even slightly heavier than a 12ga. The Remington designers and marketers should be ashamed of themselves. REAL 16 ga. guns are built on 16 ga or 20 ga frames, then they actually do "carry like a 20, hit like a 12"
