Ok guys i have been doing some testing
we all know and love the surefire forend lights for the shotguns, the rem 618 ect. has been surefires biggest seller in the last 20+ years.
But i have been working on building a HSLD shotguns with different set ups.
Some of the things covered have been rail systems, sites stocks and last but not least weapons lights.
This is what i have worked out
The surefire forend weapons light, is to big, to bulky and to slow.
A very fine bit of kit, well made and allmost allways works.
The newest modle is just to big for alot of peoples hands.
Now thats not the bigest issue, what is to me is how much the forend slows down your pumping speed compared to a standard forend.
So we have done testing on 3 styles of forends
1 standard 870 police forend no weapons light
2 surefire 618 weapons light
3 prototype railed forend made fome 6061 T6 with surefire G6 light and mount.
This is the brakedown on avarage time it took to shoot 5 rounds of 2 3/4 low recoil 00 buck as an ipsc targets at 8m and have all pellets hit the target
1 5rds 6.234 sec
2 5rds 4.893 sec
3 5rds 3.974 sec
cost brake down retail prices(dont ask me what i paid) for #2 and # 3 only as they are the only light weapons systems
2 $325 surefire weapons light
3 my prototype railed forend $150 light and mount $60 rail covers $32 Total $242
Thanks
