Okay fellas...I was just watching WaterfowlerTV on WildTV and it got me thinking about the fast approaching spring and goose hunting. I have a 12GA Remington 870 Wingmaster that I use with either 3" Federal or Winchester ammo for knocking down the big cronkers. But, I have only used the choke tubes that have come stock with my shotty.

I was wondering if any of you guys know of a good choke tube for the 12GA Remington 870 Wingmaster for goose hunting purposes. I have heard good things about the Patternmaster Chokes...but wanted to ask you guys what works best for you. Thanks in advance fellas. :)

well some are made with extended knurled ends to make it easier and quicker to install and remove. some are made of hardened steel for both steel and lead shot and hevi shot. some of the turkey choke tubes show a rate of constiction as tight as .089.

Labman: The only way to tell if you need a different brand of choke tube is to pattern your shotgun. I use my Remchoke improved cylinder for Hevi-shot goose hunting and it works fine. Since you probably won't be swapping tubes a lot during goose hunting (unlike sporting clays) I fail to see the benefit of extended tubes.

Thanks for the info guys...and for saving me from wasting my money. I'll stick with my tried and true remmy chokes. :)

By all means, stick with your chokes ... but do a lot of patterning.

Try various combinations from different mfgr's. until you find the load/choke combo that gives you the best pattern (evenly distributed coverage) for the range(s) you are most likely to encounter.

Many around here swear by Kent Fasteel, 3" -1-1/4 BBB's @ 1425fps out of a
I/Cyl choke.
