i bought a rem xcr compact tactical 308 from elwood epps. they had it listed as coming with 40x trigger. i had read conflicting sources about whether this rifle came with the 40x or xmark triggers but i assumed epps was correct but it came with the xmark supposedly externally adjustable but not so although i have not tried to adjust it with the stock off by the other adjustment screws. anyway i plan to take it out today with with its 3.75 pound trigger. i checked the rem site to see whats up with what trigger its supposed to have and it is described as having the 40x and then the xmark later on the same page! with a price of 400 dollars over the xcr II i thought it would come with the other trigger.

The Factory trigger will be the 40x trigger on the XCR Compact, if it's used somebody may have changed it.

The XCR Compact and XCRII are 2 totally different rifles. The extra $400 is not only for the trigger, but the B&C stock, as well as the heavy fluted barrel.

If that's the case, you got shafted. I'd be talking to Epps.

Is the rifle serial affected by the recall?. That is to say did it get sent back to Rem (new), and the trigger was replaced for some reason?.

Apparently Remington themselves cannot determine whether the XCR Compact Tactical rifles have the 40-X trigger system or the X-Mark Pro trigger system installed on these rifles. The following information is provided on the Remington website:

All of the XCR Compact Tactical rifles we had or have in stock were fitted with the X-Mark Pro trigger. The online descriptions for any remaining XCR Compact Tactical rifles in .223 Rem or .308 Win still in our inventory have been corrected to reflect this detail.

OP: Can you PM me with your name and PAL so I can investigate the details of the listing on the rifle you purchased from our store?

ALL Remington 700 rifles sold through Ellwood Epps since the recall announcement on the X-Mark Pro triggers was announced by Remington were shipped back to the Canadian distributor to have the required servicing on those trigger completed at their warehouse. If the OP's rifles has an X-Mark Pro trigger system installed, the recall and clean-up has been performed on that rifle.

Please contact our store by E-mail at info@ellwoodepps.com if you have any questions or concerns regarding this firearm purchase.

Just to clarify, I'm not implying Epp's is to blame.
OP, what colour is your trigger?
The 40x is externally adjustable, just not on the trigger shoe.

the trigger is silver and is definitely the xmark pro. i have one on my 300 blk sps with short heavy barrel and hogue stock which i was able to adjust easily to 2.5 where i wanted it. i havent tried yet on the compact tactical except to find out that the trigger shoe adjustment only goes up from the factory setting of 3.75. remington feels free to change stuff around the fluting looks a little different its a simple concave groove. the stock looks exactly the same as the remington site. its lighter than my sps without flutes and with a hogue stock. i have a timney trigger hopefully i wont have to use it some xmark pros are good but you cant count on it.
