Was at Bass Pro tonight. The bulk remington golden bullets went from just over $13 to over $19 ber box! The price of all thier other ammo is going up by this weekend.

EDIT: fixed it. it went up from $13 to $19 = $6 (NOT $16 to $19 = $3)

Rising prices are nothing new. Soon they will be so high many will stop. I have considered it lately. I have culled myself to pistol reloads and 12g, and even 12g is ridiculous.

Let's see Rem Golden Bullets @ $19 from Bass Pro versus Federal Bulk Pack @ $19 from my local wally world.....Hmmm.

Guess I won't be making the trip to Bass Pro for ammo any more.

First of all, $16 to $19 is not a 40% increase.

Second, Rem bulk Golden Bullets is the ####tiest .22lr ammo ever made. Every 3rd round jams in 10/22 , 2 out of 3 jam in Rem 597. 50 rounds through the 597 make is so dirty, it doesnt work with ANY ammo after that. Thunderbolts are trully high quality stuff compared to these.

It's surprising that no one has mentioned that the most metal resource prices have been falling quite a bit in the last 2-3 months along with oil and gas. I would have thought that some of the increases should not have happened with falling transportation cost and metal prices.

I guess once a price for a component is high, it never goes down with corresponding raw material prices as long as the consumer is willing to pay the higher price.

cheers

Fred you compared the value of the Us buck to ours, there is your price increase. FS

that's like 18% not 40...

First: Sorry, I typed it wrong. It when up $6. from 13 to 19. Which is 40%

second: The golden bullets work fine for me in my 597. It was the cheepest stuff around and that was the point of having the .22

Guys,

Most sponsor on this site are selling the brick for $25, so for $19 it is still cheap.

True. I have found Bass pro cheeper than many other places.

I'm sure someone here will find a way to complain and get prices bumped up again like they did with the 223 UMC ammo. (Fact)

Maybe for you. They work fine in my 10/22, I've put hundreds through without a hiccup. All the more reason to find out what works in your gun. Good enough for plinking for me, and the bonus was they used to be really cheap.

I am stopping. I bought my stash that I will sit on indefinitely, and now I mill actually shoot much much less. The costs of ammo are simply ridiculous. I will shoot a very very small amount of .38 and .45 and .223 and .12 GA until my stash drops to minimal levels and then I simply will not shoot anymore, other than 1 .270 bullet for hunting each year and 1 box of 12 ga for hunting each year. That is it. The prices are stupid. If they want to price us out of shooting and kill their own market, they are doing an excellent job. Rather than whine about it, I will simply abandon it as a "sport".

I just called Bass Pro in Vaughan and they don't even have any Rem Golden bullets in stock. The guy didn't know of any increase either, for either the 22lr or any other ammo for that matter. Go figure. Who am I supposed to believe?

Last one to believe is some schmuck from Bass Pro in Vaughan. Since you asked...

The last time I bought it at bass pro its was $13. I bought 8 boxes. It was still $13 in january when I was there looking around. The sticker on the empty shelf now lists it at $19. You don't have to belive me. I just giving info that I belive is correct based on my personal experience at the store.

As for the increase in ammo price, I was told that the rest of the ammo prices are going up also. This was the same employee who said the 223 was going to jump from $5 to $9 per box. He was correct.
